Objective 5: Demonstrate your understanding of the punishment vs. rehabilitative functions of imprisonment.

There are continuous disputes regarding the purpose that imprisonment serves. Some advocates believe in the saying an eye for an eye, while others feel prison serves as a mechanism to re-establish offender re-entry into society.

• Write a 2.5 page paper reflecting on the information that we have covered in class.

• To achieve maximum points for content and analysis, the following elements need to be thoroughly addressed:
  • Indicate if imprisonment should serve as punishment, rehabilitation, or both
  • Substantiate your rationale
