Objective 1: Identify the duties and responsibilities of correctional officers.

When someone enters the field of Corrections, they should think long and hard about this career. They will be going into a facility where people are being housed against their will until they have their day in court or they have a release date. The guard has to be on high alert all shift long. He can take nothing for granted. Every facility has a different set of rules on how they run their jail or prison. It varies from county to county and from state to state. There are three things that all institutions are responsible for: Care, Custody and Control of the inmates.

• Write a one paper discussing the challenges a guard faces on a daily bases.
  • Include some safe guards the officer can put in place to prevent issues at work
  • Be sure to include some discussion on burnout.
