2 Chronicles 7:13-16
There are clear consequences that result from our behavior, or the behavior of those around us. We know that crime affects entire communities, from the victims to those who are indirectly affected by crime (i.e. we all pay higher insurance rates because of others who drive intoxicated, or engage in fraud). The same is true of nations and communities. Yet, we also know that God will punish nations where evil reigns, and will bless nations that seek to honor and serve him humbly.
As survivors, we can trust in our LORD, knowing that he will hear our prayers if we pray in earnest to him wholeheartedly. We can also take comfort in affirming that God will also forgive us of our collective sins and heal our land when we seek to promote justice, advocate for the disadvantaged, and promote peace among our brothers and sisters. This is the essence of healing and true community, as we seek to lead others to Christ and serve others in human services professions.
