Question

The goals of juvenile corrections are: (1) deterrence, (2) rehabilitation and reintegration, (3) retribution and punishment, and (4) incapacitation and control. These goals may, at times, appear to be in conflict. For instance, some jurisdictions stress delinquency prevention by keeping juveniles away from the juvenile justice system through diversion, referrals to non-court agencies or organizations, and warnings. However, other jurisdictions get tough with juveniles by providing more certain and stringent sanctions for their offenses.
