Obtaining a confession in a criminal case is very important for successful prosecution.  Officers realize that in many cases obtaining a confession may be the difference between charging individuals and not being to charge them.  Using trickery and lies to obtain a confession are legal and have become a mainstay in police interrogations.  Officers often use these types of techniques to obtain a confession.  This may lead to a “slippery slope” that impacts overall ethical decisions.   Analyzing these issues with police interrogations will give a better understanding of arrests and how a person may be arrested and charged.
