Question

The American Psychological Association indicates that approximately 5% of children ages 4-17 have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).  Other research by the Center for Disease Control notes that 11% of children between the ages of 4-17 are diagnosed with ADHD.   the psychological and medical community continues to work to better understand, recognize, diagnose, and treat ADHD. 

  • Explain and discuss the following:
    • What changes in the brain are associated with a diagnosis of ADHD?
  •  genetics, environment, or a combination of both can be linked to the development of ADHD.  From your experience and interaction with others- describe when you have seen evidence for either or both of these causes for ADHD?
    • Prompt further discussion through questions and other viewpoints.
