TWO: Eye Movement Discussion
Have you ever noticed a quick movement out of the corner of your eye and then suddenly shifted your focus to determine what drew your attention? Or have you seen something in the vast distance and then moved your gaze to center all of your attention on that object to discern exactly what it might be? These are both situations that force our eyes to work and move in very different ways. Note that there are three primary eye movements that help us to detect and take in information from our surrounding world: (a) vergence, (b) saccadic, and (c) pursuit eye movements.
Prepare to engage in a discussion considering the following points:
- Describe the 3 different types of eye movements (vergence, saccadic, & pursuit) and provide an example of one of these types of movements that you have experienced.
- In your response posts, verify the descriptions of other students and ask clarifying questions to engage conversation.
