As we have been reading, trade was an essential part of many thriving communities around the 10th, 11th, and 12 centuries. I agree with you that the Europeans shared this. And as you said, European success went beyond their trading abilities to industrialization and agricultural skills. They were able to develop that ability to make iron into the tools they use in agriculture and make their planting of crops more efficient than prior.
Interestingly, another article you found documented peace and prosperity concerning these European monarchies. However, from our reading, we read about the forceful takeover of power by Duke Williams. The people rejected him by voting against him. Williams' violent take on power was even more terrorizing to the people. He took their lands and gave them to Normanders that followed him. He also took their taxes and impacted their coin system.
