What would you think about your cells being distributed across the world and used for biomedical research...without your knowledge or permission? This happened to Henrietta Lacks, an African-American woman whose cancer cells led to the development of the HeLa cell line. This cell line was the first immortalized cell line and became one of the most important cell lines in medical research.
