The criminal defense of insanity is a complex and very important defense. This defense is used sparingly in the real world due to its heavy burden and implications. You must fully explain how the defense works, what is required for the defense and once the defense has been successfully argued what it means for the criminal defendant.

Write a 3-page paper discussing the criminal defense of insanity. You will be breaking down the subsections to this statute and providing an example for each.
Explain the use for the insanity defense
Discuss what it means for the defendants using the defense
Describe how it is determined
