The Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5, explains that Christians have been given the “ministry of reconciliation.” Jandt (2017) described reconciliation as “the processes by which parties who have experienced a destructive conflict with each other move to restore a relationship that they believe will be acceptable” (p. 240). However, reconciliation can be easier said than done. As Christians, if we are going to effectively carry out the “ministry of reconciliation” it is important for us to understand both the benefits and the difficulties in conflict management. We need to understand the benefits of reconciliation so that we can stay motivated to pursue it as a goal in conflict management. Likewise, we need to know the difficulties so that we can better prepare for the reconciliation process. The more that we can anticipate difficulties, the better we can help conflicted parties navigate and negotiate terms of reconciliation.

- Integrate how cultural and power issues as well as conflict management strategies can impede or help the reconciliation process.
- It is expected that you incorporate a biblical perspective in your discussion using appropriate Bible passages (do not merely proof-text).
