Objective: Summarize the key components of Self-Actualization Theory and Existential Psychology.

Just as previous weeks’ papers have provided a thorough overview of the psychodynamic viewpoint, this week’s paper will explore theories that are from the humanistic perspective.

• Write a 2.5 -page paper that provides an overview of the key constructs of Maslow and Rogers. Use the APA template and refer to The Trailblazer Handbook to assist with writing this paper.
• To achieve maximum points, the following elements need to be thoroughly addressed;
  • In your own words, write a brief biographical sketch of Maslow & Rogers. (introduction paragraph)
  • Discuss the objectives of each theory, their perspectives on the nature of being human, on the structure of personality, and their views on religion. (one-page – ½ page per theorist)
  • Compare and contrast Maslow & Rogers’ theories. (1/2 page)
  • How might you apply these theories in your personal and professional life. Propose whether self-actualization and unconditional positive regard can be aligned with a Biblical worldview. Be sure to use support from the textbook and scripture. (1/2 to 1- page)
  • Provide at least two sources. If you cite a dictionary, it will be in addition to the required two sources. The Bible is not to be listed on the References page but does have to be cited in-text.
