This assignment allows you to tackle one issue of particular interest to you and develop a personal response to that issue based on Scripture, reflection, and solid ethical arguments. Remember that ethics is about more than our initial, gut-level reactions to issues. Instead, we want to get to the heart of ethical principles that are at stake in these issues, and develop a clear stance toward that issue that is consistent with a biblical and Christian worldview.

• Write a 2-3page paper in which you 1) summarize the social ethical issue, and 2) develop several principles that are clearly grounded in Scripture and work together to form a Christian stance toward the issue.

• This position paper is part of the preparation for the following assignment and will be submitted this week for grading.  Once grading is complete, make improvements on the paper and res-submit as part of your portfolio in Week 5.
