Objective: Analyze what it means to have the client “own the problem” and why it is important.

When working with those who are in need it is easy for boundaries to be crossed and the line of who is responsible can become blurred. In this exercise you will learn why it is important to discern who owns the problem.

• Read Chapter 6 in your textbook.
• Write a 2 page paper addressing:
  • What does it mean to “own the problem”?
  • Summarize the four reasons why the case manager should know who owns the problem.
  • Describe your responsibilities as a case manager when the client owns the problem.
