CONSIDER THIS: Although the court system is designed to give certain individuals powers to punish those who commit crimes, the Bible clearly teaches that God himself has established governing authority. In the same breath we have a clearly established human law that there is to be a separation of church and government under the Constitution.

But how do we as Christians truly justify separating our belief system from our daily work in the criminal justice system since the authority is from God? We are commanded to punish the wrongdoers under God’s law just as we are all commanded to obey the law established with God’s authority. As a potential future employee within the criminal justice system, always be mindful of where that authority truly comes from and always ask how to use it wisely.
