Question

It is no secret that churches have been known to experience the occasional conflict. As a Christian leader, you may end up serving in an official church leadership position (pastor, elder, deacon, or staff) or you may simply be an active member involved in the decision-making process of the church. One might expect that churches can resolve their differences with grace and humility but this is often not the case. Sometimes church conflict arises out of what seems to be a surface-level issue but often it does go deeper than the surface. As a peacemaker, you must develop the ability to break down conflict in order to get to the heart of the issue so that the most prudent and effective resolution can be made without causing greater damage to the church. This assignment allows you to examine a case study and attempt to identify the real issue underlying the conflict.
