CLIMATE CHANGE (CC) is one of the most complex

Question

CLIMATE CHANGE  (CC) is one of the most complex issues facing us today. It involves many dimensions – science, economics, society, politics and moral and ethical questions – and is a global problem, felt on local scales, that will be around for decades and centuries to come. As such because of its wide spread impact it is applicable to many of the course concepts and chapters of management including (but not limited to) leadership, decision making, culture, creativity, motivation, organizational change, strategy and organizational structure.  Climate change in brief is an issue involving Carbon dioxide, the heat-trapping greenhouse gas that has driven recent global warming, lingers in the atmosphere for hundreds of years, and the planet (especially the oceans) takes a while to respond to warming. Even if we stopped emitting all greenhouse gases today, global warming and climate change will continue to affect future generations. In this way, humanity is “committed” to some level of climate change. Because we are already committed to some level of climate change, responding to climate change involves a two-pronged approach:

Reducing emissions and stabilizing the levels of heat-trapping greenhouse gases in the atmosphere (“mitigation”);

Adapting to the climate change already in the pipeline (“adaptation”).

Of course the question becomes how best can organizations, teams and individuals address these issues? and what impact will they have on the political, economic, employment and resource environments for these groups in the future?
