Essay Topics-Career Exploration Option
Choose One:
1- Discuss at least two career options that you have explored that you will keep in mind while pursuing the rest of your higher education. What are they, what have you learned about them, and if you can prioritize them how would you do so and why? Be specific and use strong supporting details and examples.
2- If you are sure about your career path, what is it, why have you chosen it, what have you learned and how will you pursue it? Be specific and use strong supporting details and examples.
3- You have a friend who is considering three different career paths. In your own words, advise them step by step through the process you have learned. Be specific and use strong specific details.
4- You have a friend who says he/she knows what he/she wants and is not going to consider any other career options. What would you advise this person to do? Be specific and use strong supporting details.
Keep in mind:
-Diction. Avoid those vague, lazy words. You should know them by now!
-Grammar matters. Check for sentence fragments. Check for missing word endings. Do not just reread…proofread!
-Give that essay a meaningful title. “Essay Project #3” in unacceptable; that would be like naming your dog, “Dog” or your child, “Child”. Give it as much thought as you would anything else you are submitting.
-Have a strong Thesis Statement. Like lazy words, I really should not have to discuss this any further at this point.
-Everything in the paper should be important, an important point, important support, the best of the best; you never want a reader to look up and say, “so what?” You want them to look up and say, “oh!”, “that was interesting,” “I learned from this!” and even “wow, you’re smart!” J
-I’ve said it before: everything you put your name to is a statement on who you are. I hope this matters to you all from the moment you put your name on the paper.
