Dolphin File Statistics
Marine scientists who study dolphin communication have discovered that bottlenose dolphins exhibit an individualized whistle contour known as their signature whistle. A study was conducted to categorize the signature whistle of 10 captive adult bottlenose dolphins in socially interactive contexts. A total of 185 whistles was recorded during the study period; each whistle contour was analyzed and assigned to a category by a contour similarity (CS) technique. The results are reported in the data file "Dolphin."
a) Use a graphical method to summarize the results and post it to the forum. Choose the graphical method you think best represents this data set.
b) Do you detect any patterns in the data that might be helpful to marine scientists? Explain.
Reminder: remember to respond to at least 2 group members in order to satisfy discussion requirements.
( Respond to these two group members).
A: The graphic that I think is a good choose to summarize the results is the pie graph. I think that this is the best chart to use, as well as percentage because the marine scientist can view the number as the percent rate rather than just the number of total whistle.
B: A pattern that I can detect is that the A whistle is the most commonly used. Out of the 185 this whistle measurement was detected 97 times which is more than half of the time making this the have the higher probability rate. Whistles F,G,H,I are the most rare, this maybe considered the outlier, because they rarely occur (each only 1.08% x4= 4.32%).

a) The graphical method that I believe is the best to represent this data set is a pie graph. Its to be the best because not only does it shows how much whistles each category holds, but the percentage as well. Additionally, the variable that's being studied is the signature whistles. This variable is not a quantitative, but a qualitative one. it makes it qualitative since its categorizing these signature whistles. Therefore, the best graph to show this data is a pie graph.
b) The pattern that I detect that might be helpful to the marine scientists is that category A holds the most signature whistles, making it the most common. This category holds 97 whistles, which equates to a percentage of 52.43. This count and percentage is more than half than the other categories. Yet, the least were category F, G, H, I, all holding a percentage of 1.08.
